- Why do you want this new feature?
- When you are writing your idea, it’s important to focus on the “Why” of your request. We on the product team are focused on understanding the issue you want to solve. Understanding the issue is key to finding an appropriate resolution even if it looks a looks a little different from the solution you propose.
- To address the Why of your request consider:
- Why do you want this feature?
- What problem are you trying to solve?
- How will this be used?
- What new feature do you think will improve your SNB user experience?
What if my idea already exists?
If you are browsing the ideas in the portal and see an idea similar to the one you wish to enter, vote for it. Voting for ideas is critical to getting the idea on the product roadmap because product uses the vote count of ideas to establish priority. We also encourage you to comment on ideas you like with some details about your use case. This helps us to get a broader understanding of our customers’ needs when we are developing a feature.
If you happen to enter a duplicate idea, it will be marked with the status “Already exists” and will have a comment with a link to the tracked idea. We encourage you to go vote for the tracked idea as duplicate ideas don’t count as votes and so they do not contribute to increasing the idea’s priority.
How do I vote for an idea?
Your input isn't limited to the submission of ideas. We encourage you to voice your support for other user's ideas. If you view another user's idea that you feel should be added to the product roadmap, you can let us know by voting for it. To cast a vote, click on the gray vote counter to the left of the idea. The vote count will increase by 1 and the border will turn green to indicate you have voted for that idea. To remove your vote, simply click on the counter again.
Why should I vote for ideas?
Voting for ideas is critical to getting the idea on the product roadmap because product uses the vote count of ideas to establish customer priority. The ideas with the most votes are regularly reviewed and placed on the product roadmap. If you want to see an idea in the product, you should vote for it.
How do I comment on ideas?
If you want to add a comment to another user's idea, click on the idea from the list to open it. Below the idea, enter your comments into the Comments field and click the Post comment button.
How are my comments used? Is anyone reading them?
Comments are a critical part of our idea definition process with Product and necessary for discourse between customers. Product will ask directly for clarification on the details on an idea using comments. You can also comment on ideas in the portal that you like but would use a different way to what is proposed in the idea. Comments from Revvity will be added as needed if clarification is required or to notify users of change.
It is important to note that this is not a forum or messaging service. Comments are used to provide additional context, user stories, or gather additional information. They are not the primary method used to provide updates on in development features and they will not convey detailed timelines for anything under consideration. Do not be surprised if once the necessary information has been gathered, comments from Revvity become less frequent. We appreciate your patience.
What do the status labels mean?
Each idea displays a label indicating the status of the idea. The statuses include:
- In Review - Idea is being reviewed by the product team
- Already exists - It is a duplicate Idea.
- A link to the tracked submission is provided
- Will not implement - Idea reviewed and rejected by product management
- Awaiting Additional Info - Idea requires additional info from customer for further review
- Info requested by product in a comment
- Future consideration - Idea reviewed by product management and is in the process of receiving votes from the user community to determine interest. At this point direct communication from Revvity will become less frequent as we are gathering users’ stories in the form of user submitted comments and votes to gauge interest. Ideas can remain in this status for long period of time.
- On Roadmap - Idea added to product roadmap but has no targeted timeframe yet
- Planned – This is a legacy status that is used for some Suite requests.
- Long Term Target - Idea targeted for the next 6-12 months of product releases
- Short Term Target - Idea targeted for the next 3-6 months of product releases
- Shipped - The idea has been implemented in the product
- Invalid Entry - What was submitted was not an Idea/Enhancement request
- Submitted to Tibco® – The idea pertains to a Tibco product and has been submitted to Tibco for their consideration
Ideas without status labels listed are “New” or “Pending Review”
How often are Ideas Reviewed?
Depending on the volume of Idea submissions, most Ideas are reviewed within 1-2 weeks of submission. Some more complex ideas will need further internal review prior to being assigned a status.
How are my ideas used?
This is an Ideas portal. We take the submitted ideas and determine the best potential solutions or eventual enhancements for the product. Some solutions proposed in the portal are not workable within the product but do highlight a problem that we in product wish to address. These ideas are frequently resolved in a different way than initially proposed.
Why isn’t my idea in the product yet?
Timelines vary based on:
- Resource availability
- Implementation complexity
- Alignment with existing initiatives
- Cross customer interest
- Request volume
For example a new idea with few votes that happens to align with an existing initiative or in progress project may be implemented before a popular Idea that would be difficult to implement. The ideas portal is only one piece of the larger roadmap, so some ideas may remain in Future Consideration for some time before being incorporated into the roadmap.
Can I filter which ideas are displayed on the homepage?
Yes, you can choose specific product and status filters to display which ideas appear on the homepage. Click on any of the filters on the left side of the page to display ideas that match that criteria. Applied filters are highlighted in blue on the filter list. To unselect the applied filter, click on it again or select another option.
